We all might have dreamed of the day when we will get rich quick. Sooner or later we let go of the idea, but deep and far in the recesses of our mind and unconsciousness we still hope that it might still happen. Some dream of the day when they would have that knock on the door, with a huge 4 x 2 foot check with $1,000,000.00 written on it. And then the cameras and media-not to mention how the whole neighborhood will know that we have just become rich quick!

For most of us this is but a lofty and unattainable fairytale. And the object of this article is not to give you hope that you can get rich quick. The old saying still is true, that if something is too good to be true, it probably isn’t. There are myriads of get rich quick schemes out there, and the internet is full of it.

In this article I will not paint a fairytale like scenario, because fairytales are just that-fairytales and castles built with sand in our imagination. However, I will say that although I am highly skeptical of get rich quick schemes, I can also assure you that there are many legitimate online businesses on the internet.

How to create wealth online is not a get rich quick scheme. It is virtually impossible to get rich quick on the internet. However, consistent wealth creating methods will soon bring you to a place of a residual income on a consistent basis. I am convinced that the two major keys to get rich (not quick) online is by (1) Hard work and (2) Smart work.

Let me explain. If anyone is going to amass riches and make money online, or at least create wealth that will keep on building and building, you have to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is definitively going to require some hard work. Now, before you go to another article, let me explain the words Hard Work. Hard work is not a bad thing and is not difficult. I think that none of us mind hard work if we know it is going to pay off. And expecially when we know that the hard work we do now will earn us a life of comfort, ease and luxury later.

A friend of mine is an animal when it comes to hard work. This man seems to always push on and push on. We have a partnership going on, and it is truly a pleasure to have a man by your side who is not afraid of hard work. Hard work always pays off. It is as if there is a mystical law to it that when someone sows sweat and blood, that he or she will also reap luxury and happiness. I know my friend is going to hit it big, and when he does, I am going to be glad that I believed in him and he in me.

In the mean time I am not rich, but steadily on my way to riches with an online system that works on autopilot and makes me money even while I sleep. And that brings me to the next part: Smart Work.

Hard work and smart work go hand in hand. Somebody said, and I believe it was one of the US presidents, that if he knew he had eight hours to fell down a tree, he would use seven of those hours sharpening the axe. Now that is quite a smart quote! One man can spend 72 hours axing a tree down, doing hard work. The other man could do it the smart way and get the thing down in eight hours, with not that much effort, because his axe is sharp.

Making money online and creating wealth on autopilot can be done on as little as two hours a day, or fourteen hours a week. If you can just know the right strings to pull and manipulate the system to work for you in stead of you working for it (or it working against you) you may soon be in a position in which you will have a residual income, an automatic cash flow on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. A residual income is not made overnight, so there is no talk of a get rich scheme her. There are enough scams in the world-we don’t need another one to burn the unsuspecting internet entrepreneur.

No matter how you name it: email advertising, email marketing campaign, newsletter, ezine. The medium is already worn out. Overused. Abused. This means you have to make extra efforts to make people get involved with whatever you do for making a living online.

I don’t want you to believe I’m one of the self made Internet gurus out there. No need to mention I’m not a real Internet guru either . I’m just an ordinary Internet user, happy to share some routine experiences and thoughts about editing newsletters.

By all means, know your purpose!

Some newsletter editors think that, if last week I was interested in email marketing, the next week I could be interested in some songs they have just written down after being involved in a ‘Release Your Creativity’ – like seminar. I know you probably won’t believe me, but it happened just this way. Ok, you online marketing fellow, I may want to hear about your songs, but don’t make them a main topic. I know what I subscribed for, and when I don’t find what I expected in the message body, I feel somehow deceived.

Think rather community than emailing list

The next paragraphs may seem not to have anything to do with editing newsletters. But instead of lying in your comfortable shell, headphones on your ears, beautiful posters in your eyesight, trying to produce more and more ‘words that sell’, what about a bit of real communication?

Have you ever been told ‘it’s all in the list’? Ever wondered what they mean by that?

The reason you edit your newsletter is (probably & primarily) because you want to sell something. Try to forget sales for a moment. You are online to give somebody something that he or she could use. You gather in a list persons that have something in common (including yourself). Maybe they like cars. Or coffee. Or sleeping late. Let them share that with you. The first step is to encourage feedback. You can create a discussion list and a forum.

I know what usually happens. You create a discussion group, post a topic and wait for opinions to poor in. This may never happen. It takes time to create a strong community. Many people might subscribe to the list just for reading other opinions, and never post a message. This shouldn’t bother you. They are a step closer to you than usual newsletter subscribers.

Remember that in a community, your promotional messages are beeing red as (hopefully) friendly advice. However, they are not beeing perceived as agressive email ads.

A community is about trust and transparency. Allowing competitors to post messages (as long as they are respecting the netiquette) makes you more credible. Moreover, you can be the first person in the list to post links towards other competitors’ websites. All you need to do is always insist on your USP (unique selling proposition). You’ll always offer something that no other competitor will. If you don’t, you’ll soon be out of business anyway, so why bother with email marketing? Whatever you do, your customers & prospects will appreciate the sincerity in the first place.

Become a member yourself in other communities. Have you thought about starting with your best competitors? If they kick you out, remember to post a thank you message on your own list (no kidding).

Publishing in targeted discussion lists is a powerful way to reach thousands of prospects. And they’re already ‘filtered’.

Now you are treating your subscribers like real persons, that have preferential needs. Now you can get back to thinking about sales.

Netiquette

This is not just about how others behave on the web. You have to respect some rules too. When you place a link, don’t mislead. When you choose a subject line, don’t lie. When you splash a half page title, make sure it relates to the content of the message.

Finally, some editing tips:

Don’t take me as an example and use short phrases.

Use lists.

When you start editing a newsletter, you become a public person. That’s like a public speaker. Don’t be afraid to speak for yourself. Let people know who is talking.

Use a friendly, but non-aggressive & friendly approach.

When sending personalized messages, make sure that the names are being spelled correctly.

Ring the bell! Arouse interest by using questions. Start with a controversial subject. Use incendiary or celebrity statements on the topic you want to approach. Create a doubt.

Stay away from cliches like ‘we are the best’, ‘we doubled our sales last month’ and so on. How well you’ve been doing lately is probably more interesting for yourself than your subscribers.

Quote authorized opinions.

Get celebs in your business field to write an article now and then for your ezine. Ask for interviews, get statements and figures. These are some very objective inputs that you can use.

Always include your incentives and current sales in the newsletter. Some subscribers may not visit the website for several weeks.

Provide tips, especially about bargains: books, seminars. Don’t let the fact that they are offered by competitors stop you. Prove competition really works for you. Well this doesn’t mean you need to be laudative for no reason.

Don’t forget to sign your articles. Say who you are and post a contact link. This is the beauty of email. You can send to anyone and receive from anywhere, in a moment.

Corporate Diaries Buyers’ Guide/1

So your boss wants to give good quality diaries to your best clients and has asked you to organise some options – what do you do? This article will take you through the process so that you stand the best chance of a successful outcome.

Diary Formats

Of course your boss did not give you enough information with which to get a quotation – here are the key elements: what diary formats are required- A4 diaries, A5 diaries, pocket diaries? What page layout is required? Weekly format diaries will have one week across two pages, a two weekly format will have two weeks across two pages. Then there are daily diaries with one day per page, and in an A4 format there are even diaries with two pages per day.

A popular executive desk diary weekly format is “quarto” which is slightly shortly than A4 at 210mm x 260mm and the days of the week go in columns. Quarto diaries usually have appointment times, and for businesses that are heavily appointments driven then an A4 appointments diary with up to 5 columns per page and 15 minute appointment slots is ideal.

Most people expect diaries to be casebound like a book, however diaries can also be bound with a plastic spiral on the spine within an outer wallet– comb bound diaries, or with a metal wiro binding. Comb bound diaries have the advantage that the diary will lie flat on the desk more easily and also a new diary insert can be bought each year to go into the outer wallet as a cost saving.

For managers who have to make short notes in the field a notable pocket diary may be advantageous. This has a one week diary section on the left hand side and a notes page on the right hand side.

There is also a choice between cream pages and white pages, usually if the diary is to be foil blocked then we suggest silver foil with white pages and gold foil with cream pages.

Diaries usually have a number of information and planner pages and the content will vary slightly from brand to brand. It is unusual for a customer to make a diary selection based on what these pages contain. The maps section is worth a look, and if your business is involved with international trade then a diary with world maps might be useful. Sometimes world maps can be added as an option.

Colourful Covers for Diaries

Not so long ago the choice of colours for

diary covers was limited to black, navy blue, and burgundy. Nowadays the choice of colours is much wider and can included pink
and purple and lime green. Also diary covers can be made in two tones with different materials. “Leather look” diaries have improved in recent years and sometimes what looks like leather isn’t! If price is the driving factor, the traditional sober colours will still give the best value for money.

What goes on the diary cover?

For the corporate customer giving diaries as gifts to their clients it is generally accepted that the diaries will be branded the company’s logo. Some diaries are suitable for foil blocking and others a suitable for blind embossing. Foil blocking is applied with a metal die and a sheet of silver or gold foil is placed between the heated die and the diary cover. The die is pressed onto the diary cover and the foil bonds with the cover to present the logo. To blind emboss the diary, the metal die is heated and pressed onto the diary without a foil and the logo is more deeply imprinted onto the cover.

The diary cover material for blind embossing needs to be much thicker than that for foil blocking so these diaries are normally much more expensive. Which method is chosen is mainly a question of preference although some logos lend themselves to blind embossing more than others.

It is important to have a good quality digital logo and most diary suppliers will reject logos that are not good enough. The logo should be supplied at a resolution of at least 300 dpi (dots per inch) ideally as an eps vector graphic. Images drawn from a website are normally only 72dpi and not good enough for this purpose.

Diary insert pages and diary tipin pages.

It is worth considering adding extra pages to the diary to present your company information, sometimes called tipin or insert pages. As these are printed separately, it is usually only economic to add extra pages on an order of 100 or more diaries. These insert pages can be printed in 1, 2 or 4 colours. For coloured photographs ask for “four colour process”. If it is important to show you branding in its complete colours, then specify 4 colour process. Note that the supplier counts each side of paper as a page!

If you have an in-house graphic designer, the artwork for the insert pages can be prepared and sent to the diary supplier, otherwise request that the artwork preparation is included in the quotation.

Optional Diary Extras

These can include, gilt corners for the front and/or back covers, address/telephone books, extra blocking positions, special maps, business card or leaflet pockets for the inside front cover, ribbon markers and bookmarks.

Is Free Exposure Worth The Money?

I know that sounds funny, you would think “of course anything free is worth the money!” But I’m here to tell you that your time is worth a lot of money and you don’t want to waste your time any more than you would want to waste money. Be sure to get what you are “paying for.” But when you are first starting out you generally have more time than money, I hope to show you how to spend it wisely.

I’ve been working online as a full time Internet Entrepreneur for over 5 years, although I’ve been messing around with computers since I was in high school. When I first got my business started I fell into the trap of using “get rich quick” promoter and products, thinking this was the fast and easy way to get my business started. I literally wasted hundreds of dollars on marketing with these “pros” and did not get much in return.

I have tried some of the more conventional methods like pay-per-click and banner ad space and never really got the results I was hoping for but I kept working at it. I’ve researched a lot of methods and spent even more money on other products just to see if they would work. I got a little smarter as I went on but mostly my hopes just got lower and I was getting more frustrated that this was much harder than I first realized.

However, I never gave up. Now, 5 years later, I can share with you a few of the methods that have without fail worked to give my websites more exposure. You can follow my path and try some of those expensive products from “marketing gurus” or you can skip the pain and suffering and move to where I am now. I hope I can expose the biggest fallacy about marketing and give you the effective information you need to build your online business.

The biggest delusion about internet marketing is that you have to shell out big bucks to “buy traffic” and get a steady stream of customers to your site to buy your products. This just isn’t true. Don’t get me wrong, pay-per-click and ad space have their merits but they can get very expensive and when you are just starting out you are striving just to break even and can’t afford a large marketing budget. It has been said that less that 3% of people who begin Internet business ever see a return on their investment and quickly drop offline. This isn’t necessary—you can skip this learning pha

se and use the free and inexpensive tools I have learned about over the past few years. Get started with these tools and you be putting money in your pocket much quicker.

While there are a lot of methods I am only going to focus on the most effective method that has

consistently worked for me so you can get back to work and back to earning money faster and easier.

Create Your Own Ezine – Begin today by signing up with an autoresponding company like www.aweber.com where you can create an opt-in subscribers list. The monthly fee is easy to manage and a pro like Aweber can handle hundreds of different lists and thousands of subscribers. The opt-in list is my far one of the best investments you can make in your business.

Once you have opened your autoresponder account and have researched how to use their service and all the tools they provide it is time to get writing. You know your products better than anyone but if you are not a great writer or just don’t think you put out 2 or three articles about your products then use a freelancer. For very little money you can post a project on a site like www.elance.com and get a copywriter to research and write about your subject and products. You can generally get 3 or 4 articles for less than $100.

Whether you write the articles yourself your you hire them out make sure they properly reflect what you are marketing and uses persuasive sales language to entice interest in your site and products.

Load this first Ezine into your autoresponder follow-up messages. This will be the first edition of your Ezine that people get when they sign up for your opt-in list. Remember, these people are opting-in to your mailing list because they are interested in your products, be sure to give them more than they expect in your Ezine.

Time to start marketing your Ezine. This requires massive action and a lot of patience. Begin by creating a template ad for your ezine that includes information about your site and products. Be brief, about a paragraph long and again use persuasive sales language. Don’t stretch the truth too much, we don’t want the customers disappointed when they finally reach your site. You will need to submit this ad to ezine directories and announcement lists. Go to Google and type in “ezine directories” and you will get a great list to get you started. As you post you will see links to new directories, post as many ads as you can in a one week period, at least no less than 50. Submit your subscription information (your autoresponder form from Aweber) along with your ad and other information the site asks for. This will increase your exposure by putting your ad on all the top ezine directories and on Google.

Now, go to Yahoo.com and sign up for an account. Search for the ezine announcement lists and promotion groups. There are more than 100 of these groups and some of them have very significant numbers of subscribers. Sign up for each group by sending a blank email to the group email list or group admin. You will receive an email back asking you to subscribe. Once you subscribe you are in the group. Post your ad along with the address of your Ezine and your site if they allow it. Again do this to as many groups as you can for a 1 week period. This method could earn you as many as 50-500 subscribers each week.

Believe it or not you have gone further than many internet business owners. You can sit back and watch your subscriber list grow and your website hits. But don’t sit back for too long, you need to get started on your next Ezine edition, at least one ever week or every other week, and set yourself a goal for posting to groups and directories every week. This kind of consistent effort will pay off more than any “just send your money and we do all the work” guru product you could buy.

One Week Marketing Honest Review

One Week Marketing is a course created by Jennifer Ledbetter who goes by the nickname, Pot Pie Girl. She is a housewife and mother who announced to her husband one day that she was going to start making money online. Like many that start out in this industry, she didn’t have a clue what to do.

One week marketing is a product to try if you are wanting to start making money online with little knowledge and very little money! Apart from One Week Marketing itself, the techniques and resources which are recommended are free but the question is, do they work?

Having used this plan myself for around 6 months, I thought it was a good time to do a review for One Week Marketing.

If you have been looking at ways of making money online, what will have hit you it the amount of information out there. Using a Marketing Calendar Template

Owning a small business isn’t easy, especially if you are running it alone. Between moving products, taking orders, paying bills, and taking care of family, it is easy to lose track of everything you need to do. Using a calendar template to organize and manage your marketing strategy will ensure you don’t drop the ball with one of the most important parts of your business.

Developing a Marketing Strategy

First, research and identify who your target clientele is, and what characteristics they share that make them valuable to you. If you have developed software that organizes and manages an online calendar, you probably will not want to target 14-year-old skateboarders. But it is not enough just to identify an age category or an activity your target market shares – you need to consider socio-economic status, buying habits, and potential for up-selling. I may be in Porsche’s target age group, but I am definitely not in their target tax bracket!

Second, after identifying who you will be targeting, research and explore venues for your advertising message. The demographics of your desired customers will play a key role in deciding which venues to pursue, so don’t forget about them. Examples of marketing venues available to you include newspaper ads, bus stop banners, sports team sponsorships, online marketing (including pay-per-click campaigns and search engine optimization), local television spots, and, if you’re feeling extra ambitious, the Super Bowl.

Finally, after identifying your desired customers and selecting which marketing venues you will pursue, create a marketing calendar. Calendar templates are available online for download and use. A calendar template typically divides time into weeks, providing a space each week to record what event or marketing method you are focusing on; how much money has been and will be spent on the activity; deadlines, contacts, and important notes; and what the results of the marketing ploy were. With your marketing calendar template in hand and wallet in pocket, you are ready to invest in the marketing campaign you have designed. This feature allows you to focus on each marketing activity and the results it produces.

The prospect of launching an online marketing campaign, billboard and bus stop banners, and newspaper advertisements all at the same time is formidable at best and impossible at worst! Unless you absolutely cannot afford to wait one more week to launch them all, try phasing them in one at a time. The marketing calendar template will help you keep track of what is going on, and where you need to turn your attention next.

Evaluating Your Campaign

During and after every marketing endeavor you perform each week, fill out the important spaces on your calendar template. When you receive the results of that specific campaign (i.e. more visitors to your site or more customers purchasing the advertised product, etc.), compare it to other advertisement venues or practices you have tried. Was it more or less successful? Did it produce the desired result? What was your return on investment for this particular campaign? Did it improve your bottom line? Without keeping careful track of each activity and its results it would be difficult to answer these questions. And if you can’t answer these questions you’ll never know if you’re throwing money away each month, or under-investing in advertising that could be giving you a huge ROI.

In addition to constantly evaluating the specific advertisements and marketing campaigns you run, it will be helpful to systematically reevaluate your target audience. As your business grows and develops throughout the years, the products you sell or the services you provide may evolve from one demographic to another. Never get too comfortable with your marketing strategy – be alert of changes in technology and techniques that can benefit you and your company and take advantage of those resources.

Launching a successful marketing campaign for your small and home business can be difficult, but it is not impossible. Properly creating, implementing, and evaluating your marketing strategy may be the last three steps you need to take to move into Porsche’s target demographic.
